Read the following passage carefully then answer the questions that follow it.
Martin Luther King was born in Atlanta , Georgia on 15 January 1929 . From an early age , he was aware that black people were not treated as equal citizens in America . Most black lived in poverty in the richest nation . They earned only half of the white people's wages and many couldn't vote , they separated from the white in buses , restaurants and schools . So he decided to help them to gain their freedom , and make life comfortable for them . He called for non violent and organized peaceful protests . But his life was threatened because he fought for freedom , equality and justice . In spite of this Martin Luther didn't give up because he believed that these things were not right . He also believed that love and forgiveness should replace hatred and violence . Because of his peaceful fight for freedom he was awarded the Noble Peace Prize in 1964 . And in 1965 all blacks were allowed to vote . In 1968 he was killed by white man called James Earl Ray . Now every year the Americans enjoy a public holiday called " Martin Luther King Day " .
